Hi everyone, sorry for waiting so long between blogs. I know I was doing a really good job at keeping up with my weekly updates but I think things have become so normal for Jason and I that I forget that people actually want to know what we are up to. The last two weeks have just flown by and I had to get my pictures out o remind me what even happened. Last Monday Joyce, Barans wife, came to live on the compound with Baran so that she could attend school. I went with her and Baran to enroll her. Baran and Joyce are just so excited, its really cute! Joyce went out and got herself some school clothes and shoes. I did quite grasp how exciting this was for her until I was told that she had to drop out of school during Form 5 because she was pregnant. I believe form 5 is about 6th grade. She has been wanting to go back to school ever since. It's been a little hard getting used to Joyce being her because she constantly wants to help out and clean our house and do the laundry, etc. I'm not complaining, but I am a semi-private person and I prefer to just have the maid come in when I am gone. Joyce also comes in every day after class to show me all of work she has done. She also comes over before she goes to bed to say "Usiku Wema" which means goodnight. She is a really sweet women and now that Jason and i are watching 3 kids I take her up on her offers to clean more and more! The picture below is of Joyce teaching me to make chapati. Chapati is a flat fried bread that is a staple here and it is delicious!! We eat it for breakfast lunch and dinner just stuffed with different things!

Jason and I have been talking about having a taco night so last Sunday we made this dream into reality! Jason looked up a tortilla recipe and wipped up about a dozen. Jason made the tortillas and steak and I made some home made guacamole, pico de bio and we mixed the fiesta ranch my mama sent with the sour cream like stuff we have here. It was one of the best meals we have had here and super cheap!
Jason and I also decided to try out hand in one of Jason's favorite meals, meatloaf! We had to compromise a little because ground beef is surprisingly expense compared to the steak. Steak is VERY cheap! So we decided to do half ground beef and half ground lamb. It turned out really well. We have really enjoyed the meatloaf sandwiches for lunch! The picture on the right is of Jason checking to make sure the meatloaf is cooking. Its our first time using the oven and it actually went really well!

Lately the monkeys have been really bad at the market! They are everywhere, including on our car! Jason and I went to the market this week only to be surrounded by monkeys while trying to get back to our vehicle. One of the nice ladies gave the monkeys bananas so we could make our escape!

I have been doing my workout without weights but not anymore! These are my new weights, they are cheap and effective!

As most of you already know, Jason and I will be watching our friends 3 children for the next two weeks. We got off to a rough start with 2 of the kids being sick but we are getting through it. They are very sweet and well behaved thanks to there great mummy! We have a lot of things planned and hope they all get over their illnesses to get to the pool soon. Here are a couple of pictures I've taken in the last two day. There will be plenty more!!

I hope everyone is enjoying the blog. Jason will start flying next week! We are very excited for whats to come!
Lots of love

The perks of having a landlord that also owns a Safari Company

Jason and I had a pretty uneventful week. Jason went to work everyday and I did work with Walk In Love outreach. My cousin has offered to set up a website for us. I am so greatful! I have difficulty with just the blogs, let alone a website!
One fun thing that we did this week was help our friend and on-site director of Neema House baby home, move. Our landlord told us to use a safari vehicle, no problem. He then told us to use them whenever we wanted to go on safari. We are planning on heading to Arusha National park next weekend to see the animals and go for a dip in the hot springs! We made room for Selemani to ride in the truck with us on the way to the new house. Selemani loves big trucks, cars and airplanes. He was a happy boy! Once we got to the house we sat in the huge lounge and played with boxes. Selemani and Nancy loved it, but B was not a huge fan.

We did discover this week that we now have 3G at our house! We ended up skyping with our friends Jesse and Lisa for over 5 hours! It was so nice just to sit and talk to people at home.  If anyone wants to Skype just let us know! We are 8 hours ahead here so it will probably have to be on the weekends. We also went to Moshi, about an hour and a half drive, to look at some pomeranian puppies for Claire and the kids. She ended up buying the runt, a male. I really wanted one but Jason always has to be responsible when it come to long term decisions! Of course if he weren't we would already have 6 kids and a pomeranian:) One day! I promise the blogs will pick us soon! Jason is just about to start flying and we are about to watch 3 lovely little children for 2 weeks starting May 9th. I'm so excited!!
Cheers,
Aubree and Jason
